Origin-

The Bakharwal breed, also known as the Bakharwal mastiff or Gurjar watchdog, originated approximately 300 years ago through a crossbreeding between a molosser sheepdog and a wolf. 

This breed hails from Jammu & Kashmir, a state in India, and was bred by two nomadic tribes called Gujjars and Bakarwals. Despite their ancient lineage, the exact history of these dogs is still a subject of debate.

They primarily resided in the Pir Panjal mountain range in the Northern Himalayas. These dogs have played a vital role as livestock guardians, fearlessly protecting their flocks from large predators.

Physical description-
